Pyengana Cheese Factory has a long history of cheese making with Pyengana's cloth-bound cheddar being nationally recognised and awarded gold medals at national cheese shows in recent years. see contented cows being milked and cheese being hand made!Open 7 days. Located 20 minutes from St Helens and 35 minutes from Scamander Beach Shack.

Sit down to a Traditional Ploughman's Lunch or coffee and decadent cakes after an energetic walk to St Columba Falls. Home made ice cream, using fresh milk from the Pyengana Dairy, is always a must do and taste! All meals are made onsite from fresh local ingredients and the cafe is fully licenced, serving award-winning Tasmanian wines and beers. The Holy Cow Cafe is open every day of the year except Christmas Day, summer 9am to 5pm and winter 10am to 4pm.

 

 

St Columba Water Falls

View spectacular St Columba Water Falls, 12 kilometres along the St Columba Falls Road at Pyengana. Walk for 10 minutes through stunning rainforest and capture a photographic moment to take home with you at the falls lookout. Take the easy 20 minute walkthrough a magical rainforest of manferns and treeferns to view the spectacular 90 metre St Columba Water Fall. The falls can also be viewed from the carpark. .

Bay of Fires

The internationally recognised Bay of Fires is situated 35 kilometres north of St Helens, between Eddystone Point and Binalong Bay. The breathtaking beauty of the Bay of Fires with its stunning blue water, red rocks, white beaches and fishing lagoons has recently been acknowledged by Lonely Planet. Check out Humbug Point Nature Recreation Area or just indulge in a local seafood lunch at Angasi Restaurant while you relax and gaze at stunning Binalong Bay.

 

WALKS

Douglas-Aspley National Park
Douglas-Aspley National Park has deep gorges, waterfalls and the 30 minute Aspley Myrtle Rainforest Walk. The park is located about 3 kilometres north of Bicheno. Take the Rosedale Road off the Tasman Highway (A3).

Freycinet National Park

Freycinet National Park is renowned for Wine Glass Bay (2 hour steep return walk) and the Cape Tourville short walk with spectacular views, all within driving distance of the shack.
